Proof of identification, Social security/ITIN cards for you, your spouse and any dependents and/or a social security number verification letter issued by the social security administration, birth dates for everyone on the return, current year's tax package if you received one, wage and earning statements (W-2's, W-2G, 1099-R, etc.), interest and dividend statements from banks (forms 1099), a copy of last years federal and state returns, total paid for child care provider and the child care provider's tax identifying number or provider's business Employer Identification Number and a blank check or deposit slip if you want to do direct deposit, to file taxes electronically on a married-filing-joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms

**Polk County River Place and United Way of Central Iowa Tax Site locations are offering both appointments and walk-in services. To schedule an appointment, visit the website https://theiowacenter.org/schedule-appointment or call (515)283-0940.


Tax preparation offered free to low and moderate income individuals. Available during tax season beginning February 3, 2025. To file taxes electronically on a married filing jointly tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.
Those looking to get their taxes done MUST bring a copy of their taxes from last year. Transcripts for last year's taxes can be obtained for FREE by either visiting the website, IRS.gov, or by calling (800) 908-9946. Taxpayers must also have copies of all income statements from the year (W2s and 1099s), as well as their driver's license or other photo ID and their social security card or ITIN to verify identity of all people on the tax return, including children.If claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit, your refund will likely be delayed slightly due to IRS processing delays.
