HOMELESS SHELTER FOR MEN | OPEN DOOR MISSION

Emergency services for men in need of immediate assistance. Food, shelter, clothing, and other basic needs are provided and each man is offered an opportunity for life change through resource case management, which provides the first steps toward preventing future homelessness. Special services provided for veterans.

Bus line and shuttle transportation daily from downtown Omaha 11 am-1 pm. Pick up is at the southeast corner of the park, call for times and location. Metro bus service available daily.

PADS SHELTER | PIONEER CENTER FOR HUMAN SERVICES

Shelter and support services in order to help individuals experiencing homelessness work toward becoming self-sufficient. Provides support services that enable individuals to receive crisis intervention, case management, linkage to community resources and life skills training, as well as day-to-day services including access to showers and laundry facilities.

COORDINATED ENTRY ACCESS POINT | BRIDGE HOME, THE

Coordinated Entry is the front door to homeless services. It is the first point of contact for those who need housing assistance. It provides guidance to anyone experiencing homelessness to the correct support and housing programs most appropriate to their situation.

PROACTIVE AND SHORT-TERM PROGRAMS
STREET OUTREACH: collaborate with local partners to meet individuals and families experiencing homelessness where they are and offer assistance in camps and on the street.
LIBRARY OUTREACH: regular hours at libraries in Ames, Boone and Marshalltown where people experiencing homelessness can meet with a case worker and work on a housing plan.
EMERGENCY SHELTER: short-term emergency shelter and housing support services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Provides food, financial education, and health and wellbeing assistance.

LONG-TERM PROGRAMS
SUPPORTIVE HOUSING: client-focused services based on the degree of need and the severity of barriers individual/families are facing. Will help clients secure affordable housing and provide the tools needed to overcome financial barriers and maintain a permanent home. Individualized support services, including life skills counseling, employment assistance, budgeting and financial literacy, and community resources referrals are also provided.
RAPID RE-HOUSING: is a time limited program, with temporary financial housing assistance and supportive services for people experiencing homelessness leading to permanent housing and self-sufficiency. The timeframe will be from a minimum of one month to typically a maximum of six months of rental assistance.
CONNECTION TO COMMUNITY SERVICES: connects clients to various external programs and community resources to help them achieve sustainable, healthy outcomes.

WARMING SHELTER | THE WARMING SHELTER, INC. - SIOUX CITY

Emergency 24 hour temporary shelter during winter months November 1st through April 30th. No drinking or drugs allowed at the shelters (cannot bring in alcohol, drugs, or weapons) but persons who are intoxicated are not turned away.

The Warming Shelter in Sioux City offers a temporary emergency shelter for people who do not have a warm place to stay out of the cold and winter weather. It is open from November 1st to April 30th annually.

Welcomes any and all who are in need of shelter, provides support necessary to help these individuals get their lives on track, provides shelter, food, and hope, stability, and finally help them on a path to reintegrate into the community and become a contributor to the region.

OPENING DOORS - TERESA SHELTER | OPENING DOORS

Provides a safe place for all women and children of all ages who find themselves homeless due to circumstances beyond their control. The shelter program includes assistance, food, referrals and advocacy with community services. The length of a woman's stay can up to one year in emergency shelter.However, some women can get extensions if a move to permanent housing is imminent or they may move to Maria House or Francis Apartments to continue to work on their goals.

EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR WOMEN | SIENA FRANCIS HOUSE

Provides 104 bed emergency shelter for women. Services include three meals daily, advocacy and case management, sack lunched for those going to work, and access to medical, dental and mental health care resources.

Health clinics include:

-- Charles Drew Medical Clinic - schedule varies weekly. Patients must schedule appointment through clinic (402-345-9860).

-- Visiting Nurse Association - Monday and Thursday in the Services Center from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm and in the Baright Shelter from 3:30 pm-7 pm.

-- Creighton University Magis Clinic - Saturday afternoon medical clinic.

MEN'S SHELTER AND SINGLE MEN WITH CHILDREN SHELTER | GOSPEL MISSION, THE

Men's shelter is a 6-month residential program.

Offers four apartment-style units with two bedrooms and is a six-month program intended to help move a man and his children to a better life by helping to overcome drug or alcohol dependence, providing life-skills training, educational opportunities, job readiness, and spiritual development.

WOMEN AND CHILDREN'S SHELTER AND LIFE RECOVERY SERVICES | HOPE MINISTRIES

Offers the following services to women and women with children (these are not emergency shelter programs):

SHELTER offers short term shelter to meet the basic needs such as shelter, meals, and daily essentials, including clothing, hygiene items and laundry. Case management and referral services are provided with no fees. Please call ahead Monday- Friday between 8am-4:30pm to check on availability.

LONG-TERM LIFE RECOVERY for women (with or without children) is available to clients who are open and teachable with a willingness to change to do the hard work of life recovery. Women are offered an opportunity to work on their recovery and life skills for up to 24 months. Focus in on preparation to live independently while continuing to work on spiritual growth, recovery, basic life and work skills. Life recovery clients are required to save 75% of any income toward their transition fund.
