Participates in the care for yourself program a national program that helps reduce risks from breast, cervical, and cardiovascular health issues. Mammogram testing is free for underinsured or uninsured women who meet program guidelines

Offers a variety of public health services, including communicable disease control, tap water testing, pool sanitation, public health facility inspection, tuberculosis screening, immunizations, and more.

Administers the WIC program. Participants in WIC receive an eWIC card for healthy foods. The foods provided by WIC provide nutrients that are essential for good health and growth. Participants also meet with nurses and dietitians to review health and diet information, discuss important nutrition information for their family, and receive referrals for other services when needed.

HOME HEALTH SERVICES | MERCYONE NEWTON MEDICAL CENTER

Offers health care skilled nursing service. Home health aide, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and medical social worker. Accepts Medicaid and Medicare, as well as private insurance. Coverage is always explained prior to providing care so that patients may know what expenses they may incur.

MercyOne Offers a comprehensive range of licensed home care services to patients who live within a 50 mile radius of Des Moines which includes: all or part of Polk, Dallas, Warren, Jasper Madison, Marion, Marshall and Story Counties. All Mercy Home Health programs are accredited by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

MercyOne Home Health Service programs include home nursing care for individuals who are ill but do not require hospitalization, new mothers and their infants, home care for patients requiring intravenous therapy. Private care by nurse aides/attendants for people who are frail, infirm or even well. Hospice care for the terminally ill is also offered.

- Home Health Aide: Provides individuals an opportunity to maintain safety and independence in their home environments, delaying or preventing the need for transitions into a higher level of care such as a skilled nursing facility.

- Parenting Support: Offers home visits, educational opportunities, and community referrals so parents are empowered to maintain self-sufficient, healthy, and happy families.

- Shelter Nursing: Nurses visit homeless clients at shelters, crisis centers, and through outreach on the streets. Provides health screening, assessment, and referrals with the intent to ensure individuals and families residing in shelters have access to comprehensive health, community, educational and social services.

- Flu and Immunization Program: Provides immunizations clinics in the community, corporate sites, senior living centers, and drive through in Omaha, Lincoln, Council Bluffs, and surrounding communities.

- School Health: Provides health screening and assessment, referral, and follow-up; immunization compliance; physical and vision exam compliance (kindergarten, seventh grade, and new students); development of student health and emergency plans; communicable disease control; handling of sudden illness and injury; training of first responder teams and those giving medications; and health policy development.
