WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN (WIC) - HENRY AND STARK COUNTY, ILLINOIS | HENRY AND STARK COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, administered in Illinois by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

A WIC EBT card will be provided to families so they can purchase healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, peanut butter, beans, lentils, whole grains, 100% juice, cereal, infant cereal, baby food and formula.

Breastfeeding mothers may also receive tuna fish and salmon.

Basic foods, nutrition counseling and access to health services for pregnant woman, breast feeding and non-nursing mothers, infants and children up to five years of age.

Provides a supplemental food and nutritional counseling service for pregnant and nursing women, and children up to age 5 who show nutritional and financial need. All participants receive nutrition education and counseling, supplemental foods, and information about other health services based on assessment findings.

Offers a variety of public health services, including communicable disease control, tap water testing, pool sanitation, public health facility inspection, tuberculosis screening, immunizations, and more.

Administers the WIC program. Participants in WIC receive an eWIC card for healthy foods. The foods provided by WIC provide nutrients that are essential for good health and growth.
