Programs and activities include athletics, aquatics, martial arts, youth programs, winter activities, arts fairs, mini golf, carousel, boat rentals, special events and recreation.

South Elgin Parks and Recreation Department offers many activities for seniors, adults and children. The Department manages many parks and offers programs including martial arts, aquatics, middle school and teen clubs, fitness, sports, trips, dance, cooking, hobbies, workshops, and summer camps.

Provides year round community recreation activities throughout the 13 member districts for children and adults with disabilities.

These member districts include Barrington Park District, Cary Park District, Crystal Lake Park District, Dundee Township Park District, City of Elgin, Hampshire Township Park District, Huntley Park District, City of Harvard, Village of Lake in the Hills, Marengo Park District, City of McHenry Wauconda Park District and City of Woodstock.

Social skills group for adults with disabilities. This is a social and recreational program focusing on social competence and self-help skills. Activities can include (but are not limited to):

- Family swim night.

- Hobbies and crafts.

- Year-round recreational sports.

- Cooking classes.

- Outings to community activities.

- Shopping trips.

- Bingo.

Offers youth and adults health and wellness programs. Services include exercise classes, swim lessons, youth sports, and summer camps.

Provides fishing trips for veterans, by veterans. Some trips are overnights, others are daytime. Some can accommodate wheelchairs. Locations vary.

Provides recreational and social activities for seniors. Activities include bingo, cards, painting, dancing, group exercise sessions and lunches.

Maintains parks and offers recreational activities for both adults and children.

Offers a variety of programs for youth, teens, adults, and seniors. Programs include adult and youth sports, running clubs, walking clubs, youth aquatics programs, teen and adult swim lessons, aquatics personal training, dance programs, swim team, teen wellness center certification (to access fitness and cardio equipment in YMCA Wellness Centers), fab 50 club (social club for members age 50+), sports specific performance training, personal fitness, healthy lifestyle classes and programs, group fitness classes, family fitness, splash water safety program, and a teen achievers program.

Provides activities that are centered around a weekly theme. A typical day includes, active group game, crafts, clubs, free play, 30-minute break time with age-appropriate math and reading activities. Youth leaders have specialized training prior to start of camp and are CPR /First Aid certified. Children bring a lunch daily.

Provides a variety of classes and activities including recreation programs, child care, youth activities, after school care/programs, special events, youth team sports, senior adult events and special events.

The Park District offers before and after school care clubs for elementary age school children in their home schools.

Provides the community with recreation opportunities. Includes activities for youth, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Provides children with a safe environment full of activities while building confidence, self-esteem and character. Kids can participate in indoor and outdoor games and activities such as weekly swimming at Alpine Park Pool, field trips, reading, arts and crafts, and more.

Maintains parks and recreational and cultural facilities. Includes The Centre Family Recreation Facility, swimming pools, pavilions, zoo, tennis courts, and other amenities at local parks.

Provides parks services and recreational programs for individuals of all ages, including Sholem Aquatic Center, Leonhard Recreation Center, Hays Recreation Center, and Eddie Albert Community Garden.

Provides a safe place for area teens to go after school to socialize with their peers, work on homework, and participate in recreational programs and events.

Offers a variety of activities such as gardening, art, cooking, mental health practices, and more.
